11/15/2023 0 Comments Fender duo sonic hs black![]() ![]() ![]() I can't wait to play it some more, damn work! There's alot of versatility sound wise in there. I can see this being one of my favorites. I think I have found what I have been searching for, a light weight, smaller guitar that is good right out of the box. I have owned one of the older Gibson melody makers (2007) and it reminds me of one of those (size weight), except the play-ability of this one far exceeds the melody maker. I am short so the smaller scale will help me. The neck feels great, the smaller scale will take a bit of an adjustment. At this price point, I think the pickups are the best I have had out of the box. I may need to adjust the strap a bit for a better position, but well balanced. I hooked up a strap and man, that thing weighs nothing. There was no damage, but I think it was a box geared toward a normal sized guitar. In the box, I could hear it kinda move around a bit in there. Got it in black, from Guitar Center, shipped to store because they didn't have it in black. I just got one in black, and I didn't have much time to play it, but I'll give my 15 minute review: I see myself keeping this guitar as long as I can (unless the TGP influence and GAS are too strong ). I absolutely love this guitar and think it was a steal for the price. I play in an indie/alt rock band (we play a combination of originals and covers) but like to play a variety of things (fusion, hip hop, funk, jazz, folk, blues, country) and I think the pickups worked really well with everything we were playing and will work well with everything that I like to play. I love the coil tap btw, it really makes the guitar more versatile. Now I really need to try it through a better amp! The pickups really cut through and sounded fat. I tried this out at band practice through a Peavey Vypyr 30 (not a great amp, I know) but it sounded so awesome. It's also insanely light, I think it weighs less than 7 pounds. The guitar has an overall retro look which is pretty sweet imo. The finish is cool and has a little sparkle to it (tried to capture that in the last photo). So far, it's stayed in tune well and the switch and pots feel sturdy enough. There weren't any dead spots or other points of concern on the fretboard. The frets were in excellent condition and the fret job was really nice and even. I love the Mexican-made Fenders (also have a MIM strat) and I honestly think they are incredible guitars for the money. The guitar feels really nice and plays incredibly well. I'm horrible at guitar reviews but I'll do my best. There was a pretty small hole in the box but there was no damage to the guitar whatsoever. It turns out they examine every guitar and "make sure it's perfect before they send it out," to quote Brett. When I got the guitar, it was completely in tune and had a new set of strings. Ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived early on Wednesday (Indiana to Maryland). I emailed them about a question and I got a response (from someone named Brett) within 20 minutes. I'm not affiliated with them in any way but I just wanna say, the transaction with Moore Guitars was perfect. The grand total (with free shipping) ended up being $399. There weren't many reviews for them so I was skeptical, but decided to go through with it because they had a 20% off coupon. Recently decided to buy one through a place called Moore Music Guitars. I tried some Duo Sonics out a couple weeks ago at a Guitar Center and at another local music store and loved them immediately. ![]() I've seen a lot about the new Fender Duo Sonics and really liked the look ever since I saw one. ![]()
